I am sure that most Malaysians have viewed or read the YouTube video titled, "Valentine's Day - Haram Dalam Islam". My first reaction as a true 1-Malaysian was annoyed and I was wondering how come people like her still exist. But then, because of its disturbing nature, I started to think further about this topic. There are always those people who think on the extreme sides - be it on the extreme good or extreme evil. We also have those who are fanatics. Well, at the end of the day, as long as, our thoughts are well and our intentions are pure, why do we need to worry? God is Most Merciful and He is Great. Love to others is always encouraged in all religions, there is no religion which promotes hatred so why do people over-analyze Valentine's Day like this lady, Ustazah Siti Nor Bahyah? At the end of the day, everyday people are doing 'maksiat', don't blame it on a particular day like Valentine's Day. At the end of the day, it has nothing to do with people from a specific religion to do bad, come on, if we look at the criminals in any prison, they are of various races and religions - so why blame religion when a person does bad thing? Blame the person, it is his/her choice to do what he/she did in the first place!
Whatever the origin of Valentine's Day, it does matter for it is a celebration of love. So, Happy Valentine's Day to all my family and friends! Let's celebrate the day of Love by thanking God of the loving family and friends who are in our lives. Let's appreciate others for caring and loving us all this while. Let's respect each other, regardless of their nationality, race or faith. Life is too short to have hate in our hearts. Forgive and forget, life moves on :)
Happy Valentine's Day to all my model and mortal readers out there, may your 14th February be filled with love, joy and happiness.
