I'm not surprised - StarNews: Malaysia gets poor marks on human rights

While others are fighting for humanity and peace, here we are being ranked badly for our 'excellent' position on human rights. I guess with whatever is going on in this country, I'm not surprised at all. For those who are interested to read more on the news, pls click the link below:

"Malaysia gets poor marks on human rights"

Let's start to think about each other and promote peace among ourselves. I believe in the concept of 1-Malaysia, where we do NOT have discriminations between races, religions and even sexual preferences. Enough with the talk, let's see some actions, shall we? Why do we not practice what we preach? Good concept but poor execution **sigh**

When la we can be on par with the other developed nations??? Deeply saddened, yet I can't think of anything else to do...

Until my next posting, peace to all...

101 East - Malaysia (Whose God?)

Attached is the link to a YouTube video on a talk show under Al-Jazeera channel. The panel includes Marina Mahathir as one of its panel members. If you have never read any of her article or listened to any of her interviews, please watch this one. Believe me that you will be amazed on how well she replied the questions. I salute her for speaking out loud and standing for what she believes in.

101 East - Malaysia Whose God?

I hope more and more people would speak up and contribute in whatever ways they could for peace and harmony in this country.

The Word GOD

There seems to be a lot of unnecessary happenings going on in Malaysia that can be regarded as stupid yet disturbing. I guess there are just some people who have nothing else better to do... As civilized as we claim we are nowadays, there are still those barbaric people amongst us - primitives???

Now, with a total of 6 (some may say 8?) churches in Malaysia attacked (the pic above is the pic of burnt Metro Tabernacle Church in KL), people are getting emotional and some may be scared. I am amazed that we still have this sort of behaviour in our country. Where is the 1-Malaysia concept now? Do they know that we are living in a multi-racial, multi-religion country? I thought that people should be sensitive enough to acknowledge and respect other's religion.

Picture above = "Neobyzantine Tryptich" by Christina Varga -> taken from Leyla Jagiella's blog

ALLAH is a standard Arabic word for GOD or The Creator. It has been used even by the pagan Meccans to refer to the superior creator. Therefore, the word ALLAH does not belong to any religion. It is widely used by all Arabic speakers, including Jews and Christians. It is not associated to any religion and it is ridiculous for any religion to claim that the word ALLAH can only be used by their religion. Only UNEDUCATED people will claim such a thing!!!

And what's with the government trying to make an appeal on the court's decision? I think that the Government should represent the whole nation instead of a particular religious segment. I just don't understand why can't they be professional and separate their own personal view to the decision that they make for the country. I guess that we have a lot to learn on how to run a country...

Attacking churches is just an act of desperation from the weak and it is so childish too. What do they gain if they attack the churches? The judgement made by the court will not change, for goodness sake!!! 'Barking' at the wrong 'tree' will not help, right? Gosh, some people just do not have brains in their heads, I guess... I admit it that I am very angry when it comes to this matter as it is something that may cause unnecessary religious tensions in the country. Why do we need to devote our time and effort on something unnecessary like this as compared to a more productive issue like the high illiteracy rate among the children at the rural and village areas? Like I've said before and would like to stress again, only people with no brains in their skulls who will dwell upon this issue - so, let's just move on and focus our energy on something fruitful for the society and country.

Till my next post, peace to the models and mortals out there!!!

2009 & 2010

I wanted to post something for Christmas the other day but unfortunately, I was so busy when I was back home in Labuan and KK. So, I will lump all my thoughts into this single posting - hoping that it won't be too lengthy for the readers...

I saw this Christmas quote the other day and found that it explains the true meaning of Christmas. While many are busy with the thoughts of what gifts to buy and what clothes to wear, many forget that Christmas brings family to get together, to allow family members open their hearts and forgive the past and embrace the future together. I am very fortunate to have a big family - my dad has 12 brothers and sisters! We are a colourful bunch, with our own personalities (whether it is strength or weakness, it is very subjective). Whether we like it or not, they are our family and they will stand by us forever.

So, my 2009 Christmas was spent in Labuan, at my sister's place. For 2010 New Year, we spent it at my grandma's place. Not all could make it though so we are planning to have a bigger family gathering in 2011 New Year... Hope is still there to get all 13 siblings together with all my cousins, nephews and nieces... That will be an effort by itself, but it is worth a try.

In the beginning of 2009, I made a list of things that I wanted to do. Guess that a lot of things in the list got missed out due to unknown reasons. At least, when I reflect on my 2009, it was full of ups and downs. I am healthier at least since I overcame my hyperthyroidism. I feel that I am closer to my loved ones. I am determine to make 2010 to be better and achieve more things in life. Instead of making a list like last year, this year I will base it on a simple wish that I will be closer to God and my loved ones, and that I will be better physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I pray that God continues to bless hubby, our family members and friends.

As we are still at the dawn of New Year, let us try to be positive about it and hope for the best...

Till my next post, peace to all of you, models and mortals out there!!! Thanks for reading my blog and have a great year ahead.
